Partnership Sijtsma & Zn. ready for the future with a combination of Bijlsma Hercules

“The sticky clay here quickly causes clods when digging up. That is why we prefer to harvest relatively early so that more mother tubers come from the land. The workability can differ per tipper ”, says Sjoerd Sijtsma. The partnership processes about 80 hectares of seed potatoes, 35 hectares of table potatoes and 15 hectares of chips potatoes annually, which are harvested with an AVR four-row machine. “The new combi has enough capacity to keep track of the harvester and to inspect the product accurately via the reading units. We can properly fill a trailer within 45 minutes ”. The combination consists of a receiving hopper BSB 6124 HS-1, product cleaner BPR 247 RE, inspection unit LU 400-240 and a pre-grader BVS 247 DR PU. Sjoerd Sijtsma expects to be “ready for the future” with this line and enthusiastically explains the most important details of the configuration they have ordered.

The box in the sloping part has also been extended by one meter. A sensor continuously regulates the speed of the floor chains in order to keep the product flow constant. The unloading floor is driven with two chains on the outside and in the middle the unloading floor is additionally supported with a roller chain, so that collapse is impossible. The chains are automatically lubricated and the unloading floor drive takes place on both sides of the drive shaft. A practical detail are the viewing grids in the side walls, with which you can inspect the tipper. The bucket is balanced in such a way that it weighs only 800 kilos on the tow bar and can be moved on one spoon of the forklift ”. “The bulkhead is adjustable in height and can be raised, so that we can dump potatoes in it with a container or box tipper without spilling. The box has drive-in lights on the sides. In the dark we can drive into the box on the mirrors between the two lights. Spilling is prevented by two rubber flaps mounted one behind the other. At our request, the tray of this model has a horizontal bend at both the top and bottom to promote an even product flow.

PRODUCT CLEANER BVS 247 DR PU

“The cleaner consists of a combination of 4 stainless steel rollers and 3 ellips rollers, which create a high cleaning capacity. Thanks to the ellips rollers, no soil or tare adheres to the stainless steel rollers, making a clod driver superfluous. The rollers are infinitely adjustable, like the entire upper train, by the way, so that we can adjust the speed depending on the amount of soil and clods on a tipper. We have extended the discharge conveyor by 70 centimeters to four meters so that the conveyor protrudes beyond the inspection platform. ”

READING UNIT LU 400-240

“In order to combat impact blue, no bottom plate has been mounted under the overflow belt from the roller cleaner to the reading unit, so exactly on the 'fall spot' of the potatoes. This causes the potatoes to land softly. The deposit to the two reading belts is adjustable in width. This makes it possible to send the product flow closer to the pre-sorter, so that picking is faster and less far reaching is required. This is especially useful for a tipper with many clods. The second part of the reading conveyors have been extended at our request from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, so that we can sort without problems with four people. The platforms are individually adjustable in height. The clods that you throw forward end up on a central discharge conveyor. No hassle with throwing lumps backwards! We have also provided the reading tapes with electric motors on request. The reading belts have two directions of rotation and are provided with a control belt so that misalignment does not occur. ” The new combi has for Maatschap Sijtsma & Zn. enough capacity to keep up with the harvester and inspect the product accurately. Product-friendly storage and storage processing is important for the grower of high-quality seed potatoes and table potatoes.

PRE-SORT BVS 247 DR PU

“This unit is also infinitely adjustable and we use it to sort out sizes between 35 to 70 millimeters. Pre-grading will only increase in the future. When storing it, it gives us the option of already turning out the oversize. This way we do not have to keep them or sort them out later and we can benefit from a favorable ex-land price for the oversize, so early in the season. When delivering the table potatoes, we turn the undersize, less than 40 millimeters, out. That is not a problem either, because soil and other tare is already out of the lot. If we do not want to use the unit, it can simply be hydraulically pushed upwards at an angle of 40 degrees, until the bottom discharge conveyor is level with the pick conveyors. Bijlsma Hercules has developed a frame construction especially for this purpose, which was delivered on this machine for the first time. ”

Partnership Sijtsma & Zn. is satisfied with the collaboration with Bijlsma Hercules. “We met several times with each other and have experienced that they recognize our practical requirements and are used to translating them into customer-specific solutions.
